Tell me what you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?
The poet Mary Oliver wrote these lines in
The Summer Day
Now that I’ve asked you those questions, I think it’s only fair that I share a bit about how I got here. So this is my story about my Grand Pasting From Life. With the benefit of hindsight and some hard earned wisdom, I can tell you that I spent a lot of my younger adulthood frittering away the wild and precious life Mary Oliver was talking about at the top of the page. I left university with no plan or vision, just getting by, not knowing who I was or what I truly wanted. I started a spiritual awakening in my early 20s, when I was tired of living a party lifestyle in Spain. That got me so far, and yet at age 31 I found myself burned out, weary and unhappy. At that point a devastating and life threatening health diagnosis stopped me in my tracks, and I sat up and paid attention. When life sends you something really big like that, I’ve learned that it pays to listen and learn.
Trusting my deepest desires & dreams
Like a lot of us, at that point I was really good at not listening to the promptings of my heart, and not trusting my deepest desires and dreams. When I started to do that, lots of things began to change for the better. It didn’t happen overnight, because as they say, it’s about the journey rather than the destination. We’re all a work in progress.
So what did I learn? I figured out that caring for other people, really connecting with them from my heart and encouraging them to find their best life, is my purpose and passion.
This is me. And I see you. I see your potential, and I want to help you.
